Summer Trends 2010
When are shirt dresses and statement shoes not a trend? It seems the military look is not going anywhere either, however, it has evolved. Some are still doing it as the green military style but those designers on the forefront of fashion are giving it a more dark age inspired or warrior take. This can be fused with the popular tribal style to become one.
Think leather. Leather is a hot trend whether done with the warrior look or the sporty chic trend. Some are even saying to spice up your summer shorts collection with leather hot pants. I'm not sure that I can get behind this but if you have hot legs and you're feeling it then please by all means, rock it at your own risk. With the exception of the hot pants your leather pieces will transition nicely into fall/winter. Another current trend that is said to be hot even after the steamy summer days this year is the over the knee sock. I prefer this trend layered over tights myself but you may find it too hot to be worn this way for the summer months.
This is seen in many different collections and worn in many different ways, but goes best with the sporty chic look. I am personally excited about this sporty movement but be sure to not take it too literal or confuse it with the 80's trend of the past. It is now about drop waist skirts/shorts and slouchy pants, mesh (yes I said mesh) or cropped football inspired tops, and tennis or scuba inspired outfits. Drop waist skirts, shorts, slacks, etc. can be seen across the board and used in many of the current trends as well.
This is great news as it is a much comfier and easier to wear look than the more structured high waist. No time to put together any of the above high fashion styles? Well if all else fails pair your brighter colors, coral is a popular choice of summer 2010, with neutrals. There are multiple other current trends that may be more to your taste. What ever the style just make sure you own it!
