My Spirituality

Spirituality is a larger reality, one outside of the material world. It is inner exploration discovering our being and manifesting in our everyday actions. While crucial to a religious path it is not necessarily limited to those with specific religious beliefs. Simply put, it is a connection with the human race, nature, and a sacred or unearthly realm. The following are just a few components I believe to be of great importance in ones spiritual journey.

  • Valuing connections with all living things, human and otherwise, showing compassion indiscriminately and reaching out to help. In a world that has become so turned around, keep hope and work towards justice for all. Work with people trying to make a positive change in the world and do so with vision and determination. Empathy is key.
  • Finding meaning behind life’s experiences and having faith when you have trouble finding the meaning that there is an element to life not always readily apparent to us. Keep an open ear, mind, and heart to spiritual guidance even when from an unlikely source. We should all probably talk less and listen more to others, ourselves, and the universe. Listen to what life and your own flaws are trying to teach you and then embrace all the positive changes you make and continue to strive towards that.
  • Being attentive to all the wonders of the world small and large, appreciating everyday. Give praise through words, thoughts, and actions. Try starting with prayer, contemplation, or meditation.

Until we begin to experience spirituality, we are not truly alive. In our last hour, just about everyone clings to spirituality, so why not live it?
